My father Robert Allen Kenny (1915-1964) served as a Flight Lieutenant with the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) from 1941 to 1945. On September 19, 1944 his aircraft was shot down over Arnhem at which point he became a Prisoner of War for a number of months at Stalag 1 which is just on the German-Polish border on the Baltic until his release on VE Day, May 8, 1945. In this photo Robert A. Kenny is receiving his wings from Prime Minister Mackenzie King for coming first in his class. My uncle Jim came 3rd in the very same class.
