Family Nostalgia

My father Robert Allen Kenny (1915-1964) served as a Flight Lieutenant with the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) from 1941 to 1945. On September 19, 1944 his aircraft was shot down over Arnhem at which point he became a Prisoner of War for a number of months at Stalag 1 which is just on the German-Polish border on the Baltic until his release on VE Day, May 8, 1945. In this photo Robert A. Kenny is receiving his wings from Prime Minister Mackenzie King for coming first in his class. My first stepfather Roy H. Hyndman (1913-1985) served with the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1940 to 1945. By the end of the war he held the rank of Group Captain. click to enlarge	Roy H. Jones (Born 1925) served with the Royal Canadian Navy from 1943 to 1945. He also served as a Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve in 1946. By the end of the war he held the rank of Sub-Lieutenant. David Jones went on to have a succesful law practice before becoming a member of the Canadian Transportation Commision. click to enlarge
My Uncle John “Joke” Findlay (1915-1941) served with the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) until he was shot down in his aircraft over England.
